Our foundation
Since beginning this journey in 2011, our experience has extended beyond the drafting table, starting with hands-on work in a steel fabrication shop. That practical foundation still shapes how every package is approached.
We understand the language of fabricators, the pressure of the shop schedule, and the details that make a drawing useful once it leaves the screen. The goal is not just technical accuracy. The goal is steel information that can move cleanly from paper to production to erection.
We know what shops need because we have worked inside that world.
Drawings, lists, files, and coordination are built around the full steel path.
Pride, discipline, and practical steel judgment show up in the final package.
Our approach
American Iron goes beyond traditional steel detailing with a practical, shop-aware approach focused on safety, clarity, and efficient fabrication. Every package is prepared to help reduce surprises, rework, and costly field friction.
We treat safety as part of the detailing mindset, considering how steel is fabricated, handled, shipped, and erected so the information supports safer work.
We approach each package with responsibility for the result, thinking through design intent, fabrication needs, and erection realities before information leaves the screen.
Our detailing packages are organized to reduce confusion, limit avoidable rework, and give shop and field teams information they can act on quickly.

Process
The best detailing partner understands what happens after the drawings leave the screen. We anticipate shop questions, coordinate the package, and keep the path to release clean.
We start with scope, drawings, schedule, standards, connection requirements, and the practical expectations of the shop and field.
BIM tools support clash awareness, constructability decisions, and clear communication with fabricators and project partners.
Drawings, lists, and data files are organized for the people using them: shop teams, field crews, and project managers.
American Iron's practical foundation began in a steel fabrication shop. That background informs how every package is planned, coordinated, and prepared for fabrication and erection.
